Living Life as a Free Bird Instead of a Caged Bird

By

Most of us live like a flock of caged birds.

The mind of the false self tends to want to stay in the comforts of conditioning, to play it safe, much like the bird staying in the cage with the door wide open.

Whole families, groups of friends, pretty much everyone around us are all in the same cage, trying to fit in and accommodate to the culture inside the cage, while the door, the door is wide open.

We can fly out of the cage and leave any time we want to.

The biggest limits that we face in life are not from our friends and our family or the people around us and the culture we live in.

It’s not about the relationship we have with other people, it’s all about the relationship we have with ourselves.

The quality of our life depends on the quality of the relationship we have with ourselves.

It’s all about Ourselves.

We put the limits on ourselves, we are restricting ourselves with the stories that we keep telling ourselves about what we think we can and cannot do.

Today can be about breaking free from those limitations and restrictions.

If there’s any area in your life where you feel limited and held back, ask yourself what the story is around why you can’t do something.

What are you telling yourself and when did you decide to accept those limitations?

When was it that you said to yourself that you couldn’t go out there and live life fully and do the things your heart was yearning to do?

Do you remember a specific time when you said No to your heart?

Was it when you finally met that someone who you thought were the love of your life only to discover that they had an abusive personality but you stayed with them anyway because you thought you couldn’t do any better?

Or was it the times and times again when your boss told you to spend more time at the office than with your family and you obeyed even if it hurt your loved ones?

Maybe it was that time you were guided to give something to yourself but you shut your heart down by telling yourself that it was too expensive, that you can’t do it, that you’re not worth it?

Or was it the time when you told yourself the story about being too old, too young, or too _____, so you said No to your heart?

What comes to mind when I ask this? The first thing that pops up, what is that?

Our hearts are always guiding us towards elevation and empowerment.

It always wants to lift us up so that we can be more free and thrive and fly, and not to be caged by our own limitations.

What is your heart telling you to do today?

Put your hands on your heart and ask it:

What is it that you want me to do, what amazing things are there that you want me to experience in this life, and what is my part in making them happen? Show me, and I’ll do it.”

Life always wants to create more for us than what we allow ourselves to create and experience.

Today, ask your heart what one thing you can do for yourself that will help elevate your life so that you can fly even higher.

It only takes one little step in the right direction and from there Life always shows us the next.

There is only one door, and that is the door of the Truth within you, and it’s always wide open.

It only takes One Step in the right direction and then the flow of Life can open up more and more (and more!), always expanding and taking us even higher.

One step, and off we go, – Soaring higher and higher in our True Life!

Caged bird

The door is wide open.

“Caged Bird”

A free bird leaps
on the back of the wind
and floats downstream
till the current ends
and dips his wing
in the orange sun rays
and dares to claim the sky.

But a bird that stalks
down his narrow cage
can seldom see through
his bars of rage
his wings are clipped and
his feet are tied
so he opens his throat to sing.

The caged bird sings
with a fearful trill
of things unknown
but longed for still
and his tune is heard
on the distant hill
for the caged bird
sings of freedom.

The free bird thinks of another breeze
and the trade winds soft through the sighing trees
and the fat worms waiting on a dawn bright lawn
and he names the sky his own

But a caged bird stands on the grave of dreams
his shadow shouts on a nightmare scream
his wings are clipped and his feet are tied
so he opens his throat to sing.

The caged bird sings
with a fearful trill
of things unknown
but longed for still
and his tune is heard
on the distant hill
for the caged bird
sings of freedom.
