DIY Silent Retreat

To retreat in silence doesn’t have to cost a dime.

You can do your own silent retreat by simply disconnecting from the outside world and technology for a few days.

It’s beneficial in so many ways to spend time alone in solitude and silence and that’s what I’ll be doing this weekend; I’m going to unplug completely.

I will be up in the mountains, surrounded by nature, doing yoga, meditating and then meditating some more.

In my DIY silent retreat there will be no sounds to hear except for the sound of nature, my own voice as I communicate with myself, and the voice of my inner wisdom.

I’ll spend time with myself in silence, cooking healthy foods, baking, walking, exercising, and writing in my journal.

Writing Is a Powerful Tool

I always suggest writing as a tool for anyone who looks for clarity and/or connection with themselves, it’s something you can do at any time, retreat or not.

The simple act of getting your thoughts out of your head and putting them down on paper provides you with incredible clarity that you would never experience if you simply kept things in your head.

And if you have been keeping a journal for some time one of the best ways to get even more clarity in your life is to read your old entries.

It can be very interesting to see how much you’ve grown in a very short period of time when looking back, seeing where you actually were in your consciousness only a few weeks or months ago.

Communicating With Yourself Is Important

Stillness is vitally important to us, especially nowadays when we are so connected to technology.

So there will be no TV for me, no phone (only for incoming calls in case of emergency), no music, no social media, no writing articles, no working whatsoever, even if the urge comes.

As I’m sure it will; inspiration is hard to resist!

But this will be my priority – to be in silence.

I do have a to-do-list that I add things to as the guidance comes to me but I don’t act on them until my silent retreat is over and I emerge back to the world.

Anyone can do a silent retreat at any time, it’s simply a matter of choosing to do it and retreating from the world for a while to spend some quality time with yourself.

Anyone can at any time close their eyes, sit back and be silent.

It doesn’t have to cost any money at all.

All you have to do is to choose to unplug for a while and sit back and just relax.

That’s all you have to do 🙂
