Get a Wibiya Tool-Bar And A Facebook Fanpage Vanity URL

How You Can Get The Wibiya Tool-Bar And A Facebook Fanpage Connected To It

See this tool-bar at the bottom of my old blog?

This is how you can get one too and how to create a Facebook Fanpage to connect to it.

Click on the Wibiya icon as the image shows and get a Wibiya account (it’s free) and then go through the steps (upload/install, follow the steps, and read more below), it’s pretty straight forward:

You can get your feed-link if you put /rss after your websites URL, try it out first so that you know it’s the right URL.

Like mine is:

http://mariaerving.com/feed

Every blog has it’s own “feed” and you can get it from www.feedburner.com so that people can easily subscribe to your blog.

You have to install the Wibiya tool-bar to your blog, so download the zip-file to your computer, and when you have done that, you go to your WordPress Dashboard > Plugins > like this:

Find the Wibiya zip-file from your computer, upload it to WordPress, > activate, and then you have to configure it:

You’ll get the Wibiya Toolbar Path from the Wibiya webpage.

When you have it installed on your WordPress you can go and delete the zip-file from your computer as you won’t be needing it again. A zip-file is just the “gift-wrapping” so to speak, and when you have “opened the present”(the plugin) you will throw the wrapping-paper (the zip) away.

Back to the Wibiya webpage. Here you can choose the apps you’d like to have on your tool-bar; there are many to chose from (Twitter for example), take a look around and install the ones you like (you do that from the Wibiya webpage) and save.

Go see how it looks on your blog when you’re done. You can add/install/uninstall as many you’d like without having to change any settings in your WordPress back office. The configuration key you inserted earlier will take care of any changes you make for you (the Wibiya Toolbar Path, see earlier pic)

Now, if you want a Facebook Fanpage to be connected to your tool-bar, you will need to create a page on Facebook: www.facebook.com/pages/create.php

Chose the category you think your page belongs to and create a name for it.

Facebook rules says that it has to be a name that describes clearly what your page is about and that you own the name, meaning you are not allowed to name a page “lovely flowers page” for example, because who are you to claim that you are an expert on “lovely flowers” – it has to do with generic names – I suggest you read the Facebook Page Terms.

So instead you could name your page “Alisons lovely flowers”; that way it describes YOU and YOUR page and not THE (one and only) page for lovely flowers.

After you have created your page, you can play around with the settings, add pics etc.

At first your URL to your new page will look ugly with a bunch of numbers and letters:

After you have got 25 “fans” to your page, you can go and create a nice looking URL for it instead. (but you need at least 25 people to “like” your page first; and remember to go back to your Wibiya account to change the URL once you have the new better-looking one:-)

Here are an example of the vanity URL’s to two of my Fanpages: www.fb.com/MariaErving and www.fb.com/EnergyAwareness

When you have 25 people who has liked your page by clicking on the “like”-button, you will be able to change the link to it by going to: www.fb.com/username

Now that you have your Wibiya tool-bar installed, with your new Facebook Fanpage link connected to it, you can begin adding content and information to your Fanpage.

Have fun! :-)
