I absolutely loved the idea of having my own community and membership site, and last year (2011) I did a lot of research and came to the conclusion that the Wishlist member plugin for WordPress is the plugin for me – it got great reviews overall, and it looked pretty easy to install and build, so with the 30 day money back guarantee I decided to give it a go.
And I’m glad I did!
For the longest time I have been wanting to do something special with my site which would allow me to not only have a more close relationship with my readers and actually build a community within my site, but also at the same time creating revenue from all my writing and tutorials that I have given away for free in the past.
I looked into different online magazine options and all sorts of things, but the the $-question still remained unsolved as I didn’t know how to create recurring income doing what I love and doing it on a bigger level than before that most people can afford with the magazine-option.
I’m fully aware (nowadays more than ever with the economic situation in the world) that not everyone can afford paying what I charge for my consulting sessions, which I have even lowered recently. I could charge way more with the educations and experience I have, and many of my colleagues do.
To have a membership site feels like the ultimate thing for me right now, and I love the idea of having lots of members to serve within my community; my site, for an affordable fee. (and even if I would some day decide to charge more than I do today, those who join now will never pay more than what it is on right now)
