Worthiness and self-worth

What Does Being Worthy Mean?

Worthiness Comes From Within

In my most recent email that I sent out to my mailing list, I shared a powerful question that helps raise our sense of self-worth, and someone wrote me back and asked;

Hi Maria,

What, in your opinion, does it mean “to be worthy”? So I was inspired to write an article in reply.

The question I shared with my mailing list was this:

“What would I do if I knew I was 100% worthy?”

I love this question—it’s so powerful, and we can ask ourselves this when it comes to anything in life, and in any situation we encounter.

I have more articles related to self-love and self-worth here:

Our behavior is the demonstration of what we believe about ourselves. The source of everything is our state of consciousness, so lift yourself UP, turn ON the self-love, and make a choice today that shows that you love and value yourself: Inspire and empower yourself by making a choice that is fully anchored in self-love, and see how Life supports you in your decision of choosing yourself:

Ask These Questions if You Don’t Know How to Love Yourself

Don’t settle for less than you deserve! In this article I’m sharing something that will help you attract and develop better relationships, create healthy boundaries, and realize your true value and self-worth. When we don’t choose ourselves, we attract people who doesn’t choose us back, but once you start prioritizing yourself, so much will begin to shift. When you work on You and build up your confidence, self-love and you practice radical self-nurturing and put yourself first, that’s when everything changes:

Become Magnetic: Be PROUD and Declare Your Self-Worth Out Loud (to yourself!)

You are meant to defy genre and be your original self. This is how we actually fit into the world, but we grew up learning the opposite. We were taught to people-please, to accommodate, and conform to other people’s expectations of how we should be and behave. In this article, I’m sharing ways to raise your sense of self-value and self-worth that will help you reclaim your true identity and self. Both practical exercises for you, as well as for journaling exercises. They will help you gain deeper insights into yourself and guide you toward a way of being and living that feels more authentic and aligned:

You Have Value and You Are Worthy

“What, in your opinion, does it mean ‘to be worthy’?”

To me, self-worth is tied to internal factors and not external things like validation from others, status, or appearance; like you need to “prove” yourself in order to be “worthy”.

It’s an internal recognition of your innate worthiness just by existing. Because you exist, you are deserving—not because others think you are.

It’s a mindset too, because self-worth comes from how we think about ourselves and what we think we deserve. So self-love and self-acceptance play a huge role in how worthy we feel. And self-compassion too.

When we value ourselves and honor ourselves in all aspects of who we are, in our wholeness, then we naturally feel worthy and deserving of all of life’s goodness too.

It’s an internal feeling that comes from allowing ourselves to be who we are.

So in my opinion, worthiness is not about meeting external standards or having to earn it. It’s about recognizing your own inherent worth, regardless of external measures. And in many ways, being worthy is also a mindset: having the knowing that you are enough, just as you are.

That you are worthy. That you deserve love, happiness, fulfillment, etc. That you don’t have to “earn” it or “do” something to become it.

You already are. It’s inherent in our true nature, but we have been taught not to feel that way.

So many times, as we become adults, we have to untangle ourselves from all those limiting and false beliefs about ourselves, because the sense of unworthiness can go deep and exist on deep unconscious levels.

That’s why the question I shared is so powerful. When we meditate on it rather than just ‘think’ the question to ourselves, we can start to uncover a lot of hidden beliefs that we didn’t even know we had.

For example:

Relationships

Maybe you feel unworthy of love or a healthy relationship because of past experiences. Maybe you believe you need to “earn” love by constantly giving, sacrificing, or pleasing others.

This happens when we think and believe that our worth is tied to what we do for others.

But when you shift your mindset and start valuing yourself for who are are, you realize you deserve love and respect without needing to prove your worth.

So you begin setting healthy boundaries and honoring yourself and then you start attracting relationships that are in alignment with who you really are, and your innate worth and worthiness.

So if you’re in a relationship where you don’t feel valued, or seen, respected, etc. you can ask the question and meditate on it, and then you will know intuitively what you need to do:

“What would I do if I knew I was 100% worthy?”

Money and Abundance

If you feel blocked when it comes to money and abundance, it could be that you subconsciously feel unworthy to receive it.

You might have limiting beliefs that you picked up growing up—things like “you can’t make money doing something you love” or “I have to work hard and struggle to get it”.

These kinds of beliefs reveal that you view abundance as something that must be earned through difficulty rather than something you can attract with alignment and ease.

Abundance isn’t something we have to ‘earn’ by proving our worth. It flows naturally when we recognize the truth that we are already deserving of it.

When we believe in our inherent divine right to receive and live in abundance, then we start coming from a place of empowerment and confidence, instead of fear and scarcity.

So here too you can ask the question, and it will reveal to you if you really feel worthy or not to receive and get what you deserve:

“What would I do if I knew I was 100% worthy?”

For example, you might stop hesitating to invest in something you’ve always wanted, trusting that you’re worthy of abundance and that it will flow back to you.

Or you might finally pursue a new idea or opportunity, like starting a business or applying for a higher-paying job, knowing you’re worthy of success and more money.

Or even to allow yourself to receive gifts from people without feeling guilty, knowing that you are worthy of goodness and blessings!

Work and Calling

Everybody has a calling on their life. We are all here to give and do what we are called to do; to give our gifts and share ourselves and our talents with the world.

However that may look, there is a path that is uniquely ours, and our job in this life is to follow that path and fulfill it.

Here the sense of unworthiness can show up as self-doubt, fear, hesitation, and procrastination. There is fear of taking the plunge. You might think thoughts like, “who am I to think that I can do/have this?” or “I’m not talented enough, smart enough, or special enough to succeed”, etc.

These kind of thoughts and beliefs can leave you stuck in a job that feels unfulfilling and out of alignment with who you really are and what you came here to give and do.

But when you connect with your true worth and trust in your unique gifts and your value, you realize that you don’t need anyone’s permission to follow your dreams, nor do you have to accept the limiting beliefs your programming tells you about your ability to succeed or live a truly fulfilling life.

Your calling is yours for a reason—it’s part of who you are, but we never learned this when we grew up. We learned not to follow our own true path in life, and this is one of the reasons we don’t trust our own life’s energy and flow.

So, if you feel like you’re holding yourself back or playing small, ask yourself the question here as well:

“What would I do if I knew I was 100% worthy?”

When you meditate on this question and journal about it, you will start to uncover the fears, beliefs, and blockages that are holding you back from living the life you are here to live.

You have something valuable to offer simply by being your authentic self, and you are here to follow what lights you up from the inside, so come to believe you are worthy of it!

A Million Happy Nows

I watched the movie “A Million Happy Nows” last night, and it reminded me of how precious life is and how important it is to live each moment to the fullest. To really live.

We only have this One Life, and no one knows what will happen tomorrow, or next week, so it’s so important to come to a place within yourself where you feel truly worthy and deserving of having a fulfilling and happy life.

So get to Worthy as soon as possible!

The mind can make you believe that you’re not worthy, but you are, you really are, and there’s nothing you have to do to ‘earn’ your worthiness.

You already are as deserving as you can be, so get the life that you deserve and can truly enjoy!
