Cultivate a healthy relationship with the Divine
Divine Presence is Everywhere.
How we interact with it makes all the difference.
A lot of people have an unhealthy relationship with the Divine, so in this post I want to share some simple yet incredibly powerful tips on how to develop a healthy relationship with it.
1.) Realize that the Divine is Everywhere, it’s with you right now.
It’s not in a far place out there somewhere.
It’s right there with you, and how you tune into it is by acknowledging it.
“You are here, I can feel you”.
It’s always present.
Only disbelief, doubt, fear and worry (and the belief in a distant “God“) can ever make you feel disconnected from feeling its presence in your life.
Close your eyes for a moment and feel into these words:
“I can feel Divine Presence here with me right now”.
2.) Genuinely want to have a connection with it.
This requires that you actually take time to interact with it.
Even if you have a hectic life, you do have time for this – if you value it, you make time for it.
I often suggest to people that even just ten minutes first thing in the morning, before they check their emails and what not, that they connect spiritually first before anything else.
To make that a priority will change your life.
I can promise you this; if you take time to connect spiritually first thing in the morning, your life will take an upswing you can’t even imagine right now.
And PS: Very quickly those ten minutes will grow to longer periods and it will become a must in your life, in the most positive way!
(And no, it will not ‘take away’ anything of value from your busy life, it will in fact increase your productivity and enjoyment of it).
The reality is this:
If you have time to watch TV or sit in front of the computer, you have time for stillness, contemplation and meditation too.
It’s simply a matter of what you value the most and becoming clear about what your priorities are.
Make no excuses for not doing this. It will change your life for the better if you do it.
If you have time to suffer and struggle, you have time to connect spiritually too.
Whatever you’re struggling with, whether it’s stress, overwhelment, doubt, worry – whatever it is; you always have the choice to turn to the Light, and when you do, it will help you.
3.) See the Divine as your best friend.
Communicate with it in a way you would with someone you completely trust and love.
Confide in it, ask it for help knowing that you’re being heard.
Express your fears, frustrations and worries to it and then ask what you can do (“what is mine to do, if anything?”) and then surrender (let go/release) the rest for to It to handle.
When you have done all you can, then you must have the faith and trust in it that it can and will do the rest. You can’t do everything yourself, and you don’t have to.
Trust it. It’s your friend. Not just any friend, but the very best of friends.
Tell it the truth about your inner world because you can’t hide it anyway.
The Divine, Truth, “God”, already knows, so don’t lie to yourself or pretend that ‘is all good’, when it’s not.
And don’t try to bend like a pretzel for it thinking you have to ‘please it’ somehow.
You’re okay just as you are, all that is asked of you is your sincerity.
No matter what you think and feel about yourself, you are always and forever going to be deeply loved.
More than you can ever know.
So to sum it all up:
Know and feel the Divine Presence as it’s already here and always has been.
It never goes anywhere. It’s we who move away from it when we allow ourselves to get sidetracked by fear and doubt etc. That’s what gets us feeling disconnected from it, but in reality it’s always present.
Make the effort to connect with it and communicate with it.
If you don’t know how, simply close your eyes and say something in the lines of “Hello Divine. I want you in my life. Please speak to me and show me how we can have a healthy relationship”.
Don’t ever again approach it in a desperate and needy way.
No more “why me God, phleeaze help me, why are you doing this to me”-type of prayers, okay?
Instead turn within and ask it to show you how to live in the best possible way and what the next action step is for you in regards to living out your fullest potential, and then do what you’re guided to do.
This of course might take some courage on your part, but until you’re willing to be uncomfortable for a short moment and embrace the unknown, you will remain in the known (which is always based on the past).
When you begin to connect deeply with the Divine you will start to feel its presence in your life and when you do, your communication with it will grow and you will hear it more and more clearly too.
Only good can ever come out of cultivating and developing a relationship with the Divine.
It will always take you higher in life, it will always lift you up and bring you peace, so make it a priority in your life to always be connected to it.
