Current Whereabout: Gangtok, Sikkim

Since I last wrote about India I’ve traveled a lot in a short period of time, all the way from Fort Cochin to Gangtok where I am right now and have been for a few days.

See map below of where I have traveled: Fort Cochin > Pondicherry > Chennai > Howrah/Kolkata > Siliguri > Gangtok:

South to North India travel
My escape route from the heat in South India to the cooler weather in North India 🙂

Gangtok is a small town nestled in the Eastern Himalayas (it’s the capital of the northeastern region called Sikkim), and I like it here, it’s cleaner (although the hotel where I’m staying is not!), and the weather is such a relief!

It’s cooler and more comfortable than in South India right now where the temperatures are just going to continue to rise.

People are different here too, there’s definitely more smiles to see, more laughing and joking and people talking with each other regardless of gender etc.

The language sounds funny to me as a foreigner hearing it, it sounds like a Chinese mixture of some kind and I think the language is called Sikkimese.

And people are shorter here too! It’s fun to feel taller than others for once 🙂

I’m leaving tomorrow for Darjeeling (in West Bengal) where I have booked a room for three nights and after that I have no plans or bookings at all.

I might stay for longer in Darjeeling if I like it there or I might leave for some other place and go back to Sikkim (it’s only a few hours away, maybe a couple of hours or so, not sure).

My permit expires on the 28th and since I like it here (it’s like visiting a new country!) I will probably stay here until then.

Here’s a Facebook album with pics from both from Gangtok and Darjeeling;

PS: I’m always up for some writing:

Tell me what you would like me to write about here.

Life has a magical way of clicking into place once you get in alignment with it.

Once you’re freed from the past and blockages are released and dissolved, a sense of renewal and liberation comes over you and you’re able to move forward in life with a new sense of aliveness and inner joy, peace and confidence.

You have been an amazing addition to my life!

Thank you for all of the wonderful light, and love that you send out into the world. You are indeed an inspiration even though we are half way across the world – isn’t that wonderful! It is a privilege that is not taken lightly. Thank you Maria!
