"Saying no to someone else is a way of saying yes to yourself."

“How do you set boundaries, Maria?”

What are the ways you have used that are very effective for setting boundaries?

“I do agree that it’s connected with people pleasing/fears and such. Honestly that’s where I have had to do a lot of work on my own journey (like a long time ago I had adrenal fatigue burnout because of my inability to say no/set boundaries).

My real question is around how to find the line of setting that boundary but still being yourself and being compassionate. It’s hard sometimes to come to that balance/find that balance.

And how to professionally and appropriately set those boundaries with work colleagues while maintaining an open heart of compassion and empathy.

That’s a big one for me and something that I have brought a lot of awareness to to work on de-programming myself from–people pleasing. HUGE theme in this world–especially in women.

Sometimes that energy can be very taxing and so just wondering all the ways in which you have set your own boundaries and advice for on how to continue to do so.”

My reply

With personal examples from my own life when I have had to set boundaries/say no and speak up for myself.
