What To Do When You Need To Move Forward In Life
It has been a very transformative time for me recently and great changes are happening in my life, I have had lots of new insights and realizations lately.
One of them is the realization that my greatest joy is in working with people who are ready to move forward in their lives because what I see a lot is that so called “spiritual people” are many times prone to inaction; they wait, procrastinate (a lot!), and time goes by and not much gets done.
Here’s how it usually looks:
Someone contacts me, they ask for guidance, I offer it to them (I let them know that we can have a private session), they don’t take the offer and many months later (sometimes even a year later) they approach me again with the same questions and also with the same procrastination;
They never take the step to actually have a session with me, which I know would change their life for the better.
Instead they wait and months later, even a year later they are still on the same spot where they were when they first contacted me.
Or, they do have a session with me but they don’t actually do what I suggest, they were just kind of looking for an emotional and mental relief and someone to talk to but are not willing to go deeper into true transformation (doing inner work), so a few months later they contact me again, with the very same issues and sometimes even more depressed than before.
They just want someone to talk to again so that they can feel better for a while but they never do the work that needs to be done.
It has become very clear to me that I’m just not for those people.
I can write for them (“Ask Maria”), but it’s just way more fun for me to work (one-to-one) with people who are excited about progress and who are willing to do the inner work that is involved, so I’m not going to do sessions anymore with people who only want to “talk”.
After I’ve had an awesome and very rewarding coaching session with someone today I decided to offer you the same type of session that I gave this person because it really makes me happy to see people moving forward, to get insights and get this wonderful oomph of empowerment that I can see in their eyes and hear in their voices.
I love it! 🙂
So I had a “that’s it”-moment today where I decided that I’m no longer going to give any attention to people that are in this kind of ‘lagging mode’ in their life; where they put it on hold while they “think” or “feel” but never “do”.
My natural character is very hands on, I love taking action and I love seeing others actually get somewhere, but I can’t do it for them.
Talking is not enough for me and if talking is all you look for then I’m not for you.
But if you want to move forward and see progress, then I’m the person for you.
What I’m offering is a session by Skype that is all about clarity and direction;
I’ll help you narrowing in on your path so that you’ll know exactly what the next step is in order to move forward and that would make your life feel purposeful and where you can have a sense of direction.
And should you choose to work with me for say a month, then trust me, I will hold you accountable in order to create progress for you.
I’m very dedicated to see you move forward, let’s put it that way, and I know exactly how much you can do and in what time frame so you’re not able to make any excuses, which is what most people need:
The kick in the butt and someone who encourages and empowers them as they get their life on a more enjoyable and inspiring path.
But before we make a month long commitment let’s meet for a first session which is about an hour to an hour and a half long and by the end of our meeting you will know if you’d like to continue working with me for a longer period of time.
Ready?
Simply contact me and we’ll take it from there:
I wonder what awaits around the corner for you 🙂

Okay. That was a rude but true awakening. I am one of those people
Not so much afraid to move forward but afraid of failing. I start stuff and dont see it through. Probably the most frustrating aspect of my personality. I get preoccupied with the busyness of life
or I get lazy and passive about life. I know that I am depressed. I was on medication a few years back and quite honestly my life began a slow spiral downward. So I’m back on them. I just couldn’t make life work on my own. I truly get why you wrote this article. I am sad but more so frustrated at myself for not taking not truly reaching out to you when I had the opportunity to do so. Still got much love for you though.
Failing is part of success – mistakes are inevitable, that’s part of the human experience.
And we are always free to change our minds and try something else.
It’s really about one single commitment, and that is to be committed to yourself and your own inclinations.
Sometimes it happens so that we begin one thing and then suddenly we change direction.
So what? At least you’re moving forward 🙂
Inaction is the worse ‘enemy’, and boredom is the poison, and sadly this is where most people are; they are living uninspired lives where they have accepted boredom as the status quo.
It doesn’t have to be that way if people just dared to take more chances (and risks) and if they were willing to fail in the process.
To me the unwillingness to fail means you don’t really want it bad enough.
You (the person) probably needs a crisis to wake them up, or something happening to them that pushes (forces) them to action and oftentimes that action then comes from fear and worry and not curiosity and courage that comes from the soul that wants to try something new. (=explore, discover, LIVE).
Follow what inspires you, work towards goals, let go of goals and plans, who cares.
Just live. That’s my point.
And besides, there really are no failures – Every experience teaches us something new and valuable.
Right now (today), do something that you know you need to do or want to do but are holding yourself away from doing.
And then if you fail; “boohoo” – and if you succeed; yey!
It’s all part of the game called life 🙂
There is a subtle difference though between being busy and being productive.
See if you can find that in your own daily actions by asking yourself if you’re really doing something (constructive/productive), or if you’re just pretending to do something important.. 😉
The ego can be clever in that way – and that goes for all of us, we all fall into that trap at times, but again;
That’s what humans do.
We live, experience, fail, succeed, learn and grow, but we must allow ourselves to do that in order to live fully.
Here’s a few inspirational quotes for you – Hope you like them:
“What would life be if we had no courage to attempt anything?”
― Vincent van Gogh
“Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the gray twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat.”
― Theodore Roosevelt
“There are many ways of going forward, but only one way of standing still.”
― Franklin D. Roosevelt
Just saw your second comment Kat. Please feel free to contact me privately. I’m willing to make an exception for you because I know you have been with me for years and I want to give you another chance since you wrote that you regret that you didn’t take the opportunity when you could.
I want to clarify something I said in the longer reply.
If you have a goal, or a dream, plan, or whatever it that you want to call it;
An inclination, a desire that you know comes from within, then you will undoubtedly be committed to seeing it through.
Otherwise it’s not really your true dream or goal, it’s someone else’s goal for you (that you have unconsciously taken as yours), or you have not defined it clearly enough for yourself so you just ‘take something’, hoping it will work (I have seen this happen with people who aren’t teachable and who won’t do the inner work).
But without passion, .. there’s not much will-power (or tenacity) to amount to anything.
And the truth is that most people have no clarity about – well, not much at all.
So there needs to be absolute clarity about what is relevant to you; what you really want, what your values are etc.
And this is what I offered with my sessions, the clarity and direction necessary in order to move forward.
But then you (the individual) has to persist when the going gets touch, because it will get tough, both emotionally, mentally, spiritually and not to mention the bombardment from the world that doesn’t want you to change and grow.
(Although I did also offer month long mentoring and for even longer periods of time for anyone that wished to have support all the way).
It is at times challenging when you follow your own inclinations and inspiration and not the direction that has been given (programmed) to you until you stand, move and have your being in your own individual flow without being disturbed by the pettiness of the world and your own ego.
As long as you care about where you want to go then nothing can stop you.
So do care – but care enough to have the courage to change direction if your ‘flow’ asks you to and become keenly aware of what voice it is that you listen to.
Make sure you know your ego because when you have seen through it you awaken from its grip on your life. (But this too is your responsibility!).
It will become clearer and clearer the more true you are to yourself (values, inclinations, desires etc) and the longer you are that (without giving up when it gets challenging), the more those ‘muscles’ develop in you and then one day you just click into place with yourself.
Maria, you’ve said two things, “But without passion, .. there’s not much will-power (or tenacity) to amount to anything,” and, “So do care – but care enough to have the courage to change…”/”To me the unwillingness to fail means you don’t really want it bad enough.”
How can we just will ourselves to care? As you yourself stated, we need passion because willpower is not enough. Sometimes, not having that passion/not wanting it bad enough is exactly the issue we are trying to correct. Wouldn’t you say that one experience or checkpoint along the spiritual journey is that of feeling demotivated? It’s that point where you’ve finally lost all motivation for artificial, worldly endeavors, but you haven’t yet found a replacement for it. You crave for something to drive you, to awaken that passionate energy within you. But it just hasn’t come to you so far despite your sincerest efforts. And so you find yourself in a dormant state, just barely existing.
Sometimes that inactivity and boredom is actually depression because the person is in a place where they genuinely haven’t found that life force to sustain them or awaken the motivation in them to pursue something passionately, even though they’ve been true to their journey so far. It’s not like they’re just sitting around waiting for inspiration to show up or indulging in some form of spiritual bypassing. They may very well be putting a lot of effort into listening to the faint inner voice guiding them, but they are wilted from the lack of passion, purpose and motivation despite their efforts. Maybe they are meant to spend more time in this state (and it is supposed to evolve them in some way or teach them something) before they naturally find the urge and enthusiasm to pursue external guidance?
Maybe you weren’t referring to such people at all. Maybe you were strictly talking about people who resist their own natural urge to seek external guidance, out of willful ignorance or laziness. That makes sense.
Sometimes, the urge is there but you don’t have the means. During a spiritual awakening, you may find yourself jobless and unable to support your basic survival needs, let alone pay for a spiritual program. Sometimes people back off from seeking such help simply because they can’t afford it. I don’t think your program should be free of cost. I am just saying that people can have a lot of reasons for backing off. And maybe they’re meant to not avail such opportunities, maybe it’s not right for them in that part of their journey, and being unable to afford external guidance is maybe just a way for god to make sure we only access external guidance at the right time.
Hi Joy,
Thank you for commenting,
This is a very old article, it’s from 2015 and things have changed a lot since then! 😊
My work is no longer about the spiritual journey but about transformation/shifting consciousness and more on the metaphysical/self-empowerment side, so it’s a different type of people.
But what exactly is your question? Are you currently struggling with no urge to do anything?
