What to do when you feel like your life sucks and you’re struggling with work and career
“My life sucks right now. I need some help.”
This (very long) article is my reply to THIS Ask Maria email.
The first thing that came to mind as I was reading your email was that I think you might be experiencing your “saturn return”.
I can tell from my own experience and from working with clients that something happens in people’s lives around the age 27 to 31; massive changes usually take place during those years.
In my own life for example;
As you may know, I was a drug addict when I was younger, and when I was around 28-29 years old, I finally got into a rehab where I stayed for over two years to get myself healed and sorted out.
And while there, a whole new life opened up for me as a result of my choice to get clean, and I went back to school too (and became a healer and life coach for example), so my whole life changed during those years.
So it’s good to have this awareness because then you can come to a deeper level of realization that what you’re in the midst of is part of a natural change process that happens in life at the age between 27 and 31.
It’s a time in life that presents mayor challenges and some kind of existential crises and things like that, and it’s all designed to help us grow into our next (more mature and ‘grown-up’) phase of life.
To your work and career struggles and the shifts that you’re currently experiencing and in the midst of.
Another thing I see a lot nowadays is that so many people are changing careers and jobs, and in many cases it’s to a whole new career or work path that does not look like anything that they have done before.
So your life purpose is also in the process of changing, and you might end up doing something entirely new or different than what you thought you would do!
This can sometimes be very challenging because there’s a transitional time that we have to maneuver ourselves through, and it can be very confusing too, and feel as if you’re lost and have no direction at all.
I recommend these articles, the questions will be very helpful to you in terms of finding clarity:
Something new is opening up for you.
You wrote that you want to have your own business and leave your job, so the questions will be very helpful to you to ponder and look more deeply into.
I remember when I was building my website and business years ago when I lived in Norway;
I was desperately trying to get away from there so I applied for jobs everywhere, but Life did not allow me to move, nor get a job, no matter how hard I tried to claw myself out of there.
Life, God, the Universe put me there so that I could go through my awakening process and I lived on welfare for many years and it was really challenging and difficult, which I have shared a bit about HERE.
And here’s a couple of articles that will be helpful to you as well:
Go for what you really want.
So the interviews that didn’t work out, they just weren’t for you, just like I was never meant to have a job even though I applied for thousands of jobs all over the world (and I’m not exaggerating; I was desperate!).
If you want your own business, then focus as much of your time and energy in that direction that you possible can, and pray for direction and guidance even if you don’t hear anything at the moment.
Here’s articles that can be helpful to you: #prayer
There are always going to be quiet phases where nothing seem to happen and where you don’t ‘hear’ anything, and in those phases it’s important to build on and develop your trust and faith.
And this one: “When you follow your highest calling, Life takes care of you“
Trust the flow of your own life’s energy and unfolding.
You mentioned that you seem to go back and forth a lot, and that might come from you not having full awareness yet regarding how your flow ‘flows’.
I remember for me it was incredibly frustrating when I was learning this myself as I have a ‘doer’ personality, plus the fact that I was stuck in the welfare and social security system and wanted out.
But Life would not let me move on until I had learned what I had to learn, and when I finally surrendered to its flow (and not my small self’s), that’s when I came to enjoy all the phases of the creative process and then the frustration also became a thing of the past.
When things seems to stand still and we’re not inspired to do anything, or when we try to do something but no matter what we do, it just don’t work, that’s because we’re trying to do God’s part too, which we can’t, so we’re just struggling against the flow, trying to do things that are not up to us to do.
You mentioned that you get impatient sometimes.
Impatience is based in fear and ego, or the limited self, or even the human side of us, because we think we know the timing of things when in reality we have no clue.
Here’s an article for you that you might like: “Trust the timing of the Universe“
“I just don’t know what to do even though I know all the tools. I am heavily into personal development but I feel a bit impatient. I feel like I can’t do what I used to do to get me to a better place. I just feel like a lot is changing inside of me and it’s hard to see a way out.”
I think that deeper inner work is calling you, like for example releasing beliefs that don’t serve you, so the old tools and techniques won’t do anything anymore if they weren’t focused on deeper inner work.
Here’s an article that can be helpful to you: “How do we distinguish between truly letting go and bypassing?“
Get your beliefs in alignment with Truth.
