My first studio recording! (A gift to myself as I’m turning 40 next week)

I have always loved music and singing, and I used to have those huge green earphones from the seventies glued to my head when I was a child, probably listening to ABBA or something that my parents were into back then 🙂

I grew up doing performances for my family and sang into those cassette recorders, remember them? (how cool it would be to find those and listen to them again, my parents says they still have them somewhere) and I used to teach my siblings to sing and perform as well. (I was a very artsy kid:).

Next tuesday is my 40th birthday and yesterday I gave myself a gift that I have wanted to do for a long time, but never had the money to afford to do it.

Well, after had asked God to help me, one thing lead to another and I saw this very clear unfolding happening before me that lead me to a studio that was affordable and also close to where I live, so I decided to do it, and I’m so glad I did!

I had the best of times, I LOVED it, it was so much fun! 🙂

I could easily do more of that, and I would love to afford to develop my voice by hiring a vocal coach or take singing lessons as my voice is very rusty at the moment, but it’s not essentially about that; to me it’s all about the joy, and I really enjoyed being in the studio.

This was the best gift I could ever give to myself and I am so happy I did it!

So, .. [drum roll].. I would like to share my singing with you, this is the result of hours of fun in the recording studio yesterday – it’s a very simple demo, but nevertheless, it was great fun, I learned a lot of interesting stuff, and I will definitely do it again! 🙂

Here it is:  “My heart will go on” (Celine Dion) sung by me, Maria Erving.

My Heart Will Go On, by Maria Erving

I chose this song because this is one of the songs I have sang numerous of times on Karaoke in the past when I liked going out to bars etc.

Here’s some more pics:

I learned some interesting things too.

Fun in the studio

Woo hoo! 😀

I will definitely do it again:)

Way to go Maria!!! you sound great 😉
I am happy that you were able to give yourself such a nice gift.

  3. Thank you Gia! 🙂 I am too:)

I’m a bit rusty as I haven’t really been singing for a few years now, but that can always be improved by lessons, but as for now that’ll have to wait.

Music has always been a part of my life and my passion, there’s nothing that moves me more than music, and I actually went to music-school a few years ago but decided to leave because they were way too laid back whilst I wanted to learn all kinds of things.

It was a waste of money and energy to sit there and drink coffee all day long if you know what I mean.

Notes and instruments are not my forte though! I tried to learn but it wasn’t the least interesting and the guitar playing a la Maria, .. haha 🙂

It was great while it lasted though and I’ve got to sing a few times in front of the whole school so that was great.

Awesome Maria!! Sing your heart out! 🙂 Haha, LOVE it. Great that you found that studio!

  5. Thanks Milla! 😀

I always get a lot of inspiration on my walks, that’s usually where I get my inspirations to my articles besides from my meditations, and today when I was out walking I was pondering on how I could do this myself on the computer.

I have tried recording on my computer before but the sound is awful!

So I’m thinking that there has to be a good microphone I can buy that can process and work with singing.

All I have now is my Skype-mic haha! Not the best equipment for singing 🙂

I’m sure I get some great ideas coming my way, or advice from someone who knows more about these things and can point me in a direction that is affordable for me to pursuit at this point:)
