Trust in God
There’s a power that is bigger than our problems and concerns and I call that power God. (And it has nothing to do with religion, I’m not the least religious, but I am dedicated to serve God and the word ‘God’ sits very well with me).
So often we go through life putting our trust in the fears and worries we carry instead of God, and are then trying to solve them from that state of mind (level of consciousness).
Fear is of the ego – faith and trust is of Spirit, and as Jesus also said; I did not put the spirit of fear in your heart – it is very true, (psychological and mental) fear is always of the ego.
The moment we let go and let God, that’s when we feel relief, peace and reassurance that there’s a higher power that has taken over and that allows us to relax and rest in the knowing of that.
1 Peter 5:7: Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
Even this the ego will doubt and feel disbelief about, it’s unfamiliar for the ego to feel peaceful, so it will doubt it and think something is wrong, because how can someone be peaceful in the midst of this huge problem one is facing?
With God that is possible.
With the ego, not so much. Ego is driven by fear, it thrives on worry, and the more we trust that and let ourselves be hooked by the minds projections, the more we suffer.
Most human beings want to first be shown that there’s a higher power (they only believe if they can see it first) that cares for them and then they can trust, but in reality trust is what that higher power asks of us and requires from us, and then we see what that trust can do, how powerful it is.
The choice is always between the ego and spirit, fear and anxiety or love and trust, and the path of Truth requires us to walk by faith, not by sight, because we are rarely even shown more than the next step ahead and nothing more beyond that.
It’s from that state of mind and heart life then unfolds.
The ego (fear) gives us many reasons and arguments to follow it, while the heart is in perfect peace, showing just this one step at a time and are asking us to leave the cares of tomorrow in the hands of God.
Thy will be done means Thy will be done, and the ways of God is not our ways and only in retrospect can we see how beautifully everything was orchestrated and also how we were tested along the way.
Yes, our faith and commitment will be tested. God will not have his work done by cowards.
How this manifests in our individual lives are usually in the areas where there is most fear and worry.
If it is in finances, then that’s the area where we need to learn how to trust.
It’s easy to trust if we have money isn’t it.
It’s when we don’t have it that we learn how to trust God to provide for us, even if it is only to get our basic needs met for the time being; still, look at what you do have and continue doing the work that God is asking you to do, trusting that everything is unfolding as it should and nothing stays the same forever.
If it’s relationships, then Life might send you people that can push your buttons so that you are forced to make a choice and transcend whatever the issue is for you personally.
If you don’t, you will keep getting those taps on your shoulders and they will build and build and soon enough you have had enough and you’ll explode. You will learn the lesson, that’s one thing that is sure.
If it is about the work you do, maybe you feel more and more fed up, maybe your heart is calling you to go in a different direction but you are too afraid.
That may cause you to one day fall on your knees, asking God to show you how to do it, because you know it’s impossible to ignore it any longer.
This is all Life’s ways of turning the ways onto itself – God directing and guiding itself to itself.
It uses difficulties to turn us around, and it’s from difficult times we grow and discover more about who we are, but it can also be our downfall if we let go into despair and hopelessness. (But even there Grace can come in and transform us).
We have to keep choosing to have faith until we become it.
And in this process, what is of you, will be burned up (by Grace) and what is of God will be sustained and restored back to you.
Truth has a way of breaking us down and humble us, and the process can be fierce, but it doesn’t have to be; we can learn to immediately listen and trust and just go with it. (And the time comes with our development and experiences when we start doing this because we see the futility in not doing it, it just comes to be a natural response to Life)
It’s the resistance (of the ego) and how the mind judges life as being unfair and wrong that causes the suffering, not to mention the disbelief we have in the ways of God as if we knew better and needed to be in control at all cost. (We are not in control of life; Life (God) is).
When sincerely letting go and surrendering to God, your heart will come alive again and you will get that spark back into your eyes, and it will become impossible to turn your back on it, no matter what may come.
The difference is that now you’re not feeling alone in this (you come to realize that it is not you doing anything, the doing is done through you); you will feel safe, and you will stand firm and not be shaken by what other people may think of you, or expect from you.
That’s what the commitment to Truth does with you – you will come to know that you are loved and cared for, even in the midst of any difficulties you will continue trusting because you know that the moment you submit to fear, terror of the mind and worry will take over and consume you, paralyze you and swallow you whole.
But the moment you cast all your fears to God and say “I’ll leave this for you God, it doesn’t belong to me” (we can cast our fears to God and he handles it for us) you’re actually honoring God, and you’re focus is once again on Truth and you’re set free.
Don’t mistrust the peace you feel when doing this, but if you do, give that to God as well and say “I do believe, please remove my disbelief God”.
Give everything to God, every bit of existence, give it over to God.
Your sorrows, worries, difficulties, .. and your happiness too for that matter (most people tend to only seek God in difficult times, and that is also a way that God uses to reach us because that’s usually how Truth gets our attention), give them all to God today and seek only the guidance from your heart.
Leave the mind alone, don’t let it (the ego) direct your ways.
“Cease striving and know that I am God..” (Psalm 46:10 )
And don’t make fear wrong either, it’s not something we should make “unspiritual” or pretend it doesn’t exist, because it does exist (in the minds of humans beings) and most humans are driven by it, their actions are based in fear and worry, oftentimes completely unconsciously.
They do things as a means to an end and not for the sake of simply doing it because it’s the right thing to do, what they feel is right in their hearts, and what they feel called to do it by their inner wisdom and intuition.
Why not write a letter to God?
Tell God about your fears, write your heart out and be completely open and honest, and always remember that God knows your heart, God knows your true intentions and God knows about your yearning to serve Truth. Trust this.
Keep following what you are called to do, come what may, and keep your attention on God and not your concerns and fears.
Continue praying and talking with God.
In every moment, have this ongoing, continuous communication going on within you and the more you do, the more your faith and trust grows.
“I’m afraid God! Please remove any and all disbelief within in me because I do believe!”
“Protect me God! I know that all things are possible with you, please provide a way for me to get out of this trouble I find myself in”.
“Speak to me God! I want to hear you clearly”.
“Direct me God! What will you have me to do? What will you have me to say, and to whom?”
It’s your best friend you’re talking with and God knows everything about you, and when we live in communion with this power it will guide us in every way – but we need to listen!
We need to become still and actually listen and not run around like frantic headless chicken asking “what should I do, oh my God, what should I do??”, full of fear and anxiety.
No, we should confidently trust in what is true in our hearts and honor it, have deep reverence for it, respect and love for it, and ask for guidance with the inner knowingness that the moment we need to know the next step, that’s when we will know it, and we will only know it by insight, inspiration and by being presented with the next obvious thing to either say or do.
Those things can’t be manufactured by the mind, so the more we turn to stillness and attentive listening to where our hearts are leading us (the voice of God), the clearer the path opens up for us and doors will open that maybe only a short moment ago was not to be seen anywhere. (Fear clouds the sight).
Trust that miracles can happen.
Have a closer look at where you put your trust.
Give yourself completely to God, not only your difficulties, but everything about you.
“God, I’m all yours – replace me with you. Use me”.
Remember always that faith cancels out fear, and the more you trust, the less and less fear there will be.
Trust the instructions from God and continue listening within even when things begin to fall into place and the doors are opening for you – this is a commitment for life, in good times as well as the challenging times.
It’s not about using trust as a way of getting our problems fixed (or become irresponsible and passively watching life go by), it’s about being as faithful to God as God is to us, which means eternally and in all ways.
Make the decision right now – will you trust God or not?
