Vimoksha Yoga Retreat, Goa, India
Yoga Vimoksha is located at Mollem forest (national park) near the Dudhsagar waterfalls in Goa, India, and this is where I am right now as I write this to you.
I’m staying here for the next four days and will be sharing all about it with you here on my website and also on social media.
This article will be about the retreat itself, what they offer and so on, and my next article will be more about my personal experience with them and that particular article will be posted by next weekend.
About Vimoksha Yoga Retreat
The Vimoksha Yoga Retreat is usually between 3-14 days and designed for people who are interested in learning about Yoga and for people who want to kick-start their Yoga practice and also to learn about the spiritual philosophy behind Yoga.
It’s for people who are beginners (that’s me!) to intermediate level in Yoga and want to learn more about the origins and benefits of the practice but it’s also for individuals who might be suffering from stress, physical illnesses, as well as mental and emotional issues and challenges.
To make the retreat as comfortable and personalized as possible the retreat groups are always held in small groups of maximum of five participants, and the average participants (or clients) are usually women between 33 – 40 years old and also couples.
But the retreat is really suitable for all ages and they offer a wide range of other retreats as well; I believe there’s 18 of them!
The four major retreats they conduct at the Beach House and the Farm House India are:
- Ayurvedic Indian Detox Retreat
- Juice Fasting Detox Retreat
- Weight Management Retreat
- Yoga and Spa Retreat
To get information about these and all their other retreats and programs, please contact them directly as I’m only writing about their Yoga Retreat.

The Signature Progress Monitoring is basically a meeting with one of the Yoga teachers/instructors on Day 1 when you arrive and where you discuss your personal issues or needs, take measurements etc and then you meet again on the last day of your Yoga retreat (=a “before/after assessment”).
You also get a questionnaire to fill in and send to the Vimoksha Team and then they have a meeting about your individual needs.
Other Information:
Food:
Satvik, meaning: less oil, less chili (spices), less salt and less cooked.
I have had a few meals already and they have been absolutely delicious!
Rooms:
Both standard rooms and tents are available.
The Vimoksha Yoga website says “luxury accommodation” but to me the room I have is average, it’s nice and clean but I wouldn’t call it luxurious.
There’s TV, water boiler for tea, hair dryer, and a electronic safe in the room as well as an outside area where you can sit and enjoy the sun between classes and sessions.
Area:
The area is surrounded by nature and it’s larger than I thought (the area is shared by a resort); there’s a pool, a restaurant, and an area for children where they can play, a volleyball-net and a SPA area etc.
The Vimoksha Team:
There are five yoga instructors; one woman and four men.
After have had a talk with one of them today (the senior Yoga teacher whom soon will receive his PhD and become a Dr. of Yoga), he told me that the team is very competent and well educated and that they are all on a continuous path of studying Yoga.
The Vimoksha Yoga Team is also offering a month long Yoga Teacher Training course and in the current teacher training group there’s 11 students, some of them from USA, Canada, UK, South Africa and a couple from Sweden as well.
There’s a nutrition expert in the team as well but s/he comes to the Vimoksha yoga retreat for personal consultations only and when needed.
Treatments included in the Yoga Retreat Program:
One massage treatment everyday, including steam sauna afterwards.
You can choose from various different massages like for example Swedish, Aroma, Sport, and others.
I have already enjoyed one massage (Ayurvedic) and the sauna and it was really good, I’m already looking forward to my session tomorrow!

***Disclaimer:
This, and my other article about Yoga Vimoksha is a collaboration I have with them.
In exchange for an all-inclusive complimentary stay I’m writing and sharing about my experience with their Yoga Retreat.
And you all know that integrity is important to me so you can expect it to be honest.
Maria, what type of yoga class do they practice?
Never mind, I’ve found the answer in the FAQ section of their website
They teach Hatha and Vinyasa! (Both traditional and modern).
